Here is what I do know... The knife was purchased by my mother, in the early 70's, for my grandfather, in Hawaii. I know what's stamped on the blade, and that's about it. Can anybody enlighten me to more details on this specific knife, or the company itself?

More pics to come, let me make sure this way works first...

Trying to figure out more about this knife... I know it's some kind of surgical steel, Japanese made by National Blade. I know the scrimshaw was done on bone. A more specific manufacture date, steel type, company info, any details would be helpful from you knowledgeable folks!
Thanks in advance!

I don't see any images. You can use Photobucket to post images here. Open an account, it's free, upload your images, copy and paste the code that looks like this;

I don't see a image but, I can give you some info as I have a few from childhood, the steel is usually 6A ( aus6 ) they were made by(for) Parker in the early 80's, made in Japan, the scrimshaw was done in New Jersey, they seem well made as I used mine a lot through childhood and I still have them, the steel takes and holds a keen edge.

Here's one of mine, it was my first lockback knife

I think you selected the wrong link. Looks like you selected the HTML code.
I think you needed the BBS code.
(But my German is nonexistent, so let's try the BBS link and see if it works.)

That's got it.

Thank you for the info and the assistance. Yes, Stitch2442, it seems a solid knife. This particular example still has the factory edge, and boy is it sharp.
Thanks again guys. Anybody else?

I have a couple little National Blade scrimshaw knives. I don't have a picture, but I'll take a few when I get a chance. Mine were bought in the mid 1980's. The scrimshaw is really well done, although the bone on one I carried a lot has turned dark, so it's hard to see the artwork now.

Here's one I picked up a few years ago. Neat little pen knife. As I understand it, Charles W. Morgan is the name of the ship.

A little closer shot of the tang.
