This isn't exactly "eye candy" to some Randall collectors, but it's still an interesting piece. It's a WWII era 5" Model 5 made some 22 years before this Model was formally introduced. The primary "tell" that it's WWII era is the brass nut and washer at the butt. The positioning of the Randall stamp suggests the possibility that the blade was ground from a pre WWII forging. The accompanying sheath was made by Clarence Moore who was Bo's finest sheathmaker. I hope you enjoy.

Best,

Ron, if she's the official Randall knife model, can you hook me up with her phone number? I'd like her to model some bikinis, eh I mean some of my Randall's:D
On a serious note, was this knife a custom order that Bo did and later decided to add? The reason I ask is that the blade looks different from the 1960's model 5's I have.

Hey Dan,

She'd be the official Randall knife model if it was up to me! Also, if I had her number I would be making better use of my time than posting here :D

To my knowledge, no one has seen another, so it could be a one off or there may have been more than one made. The only way to know for sure would be to go through Bo's journal during the war years and that ain't going to happen for me. The Model 5 "Camper" as it was introduced just post war in 6, 7 & 8" blade lenghts was nothing more than a Model 1 without the index finger cut out coming off the hilt and the sharpened clip. The fighter grinds during WWII were indeed different during WWII than they were in the 60's, so it's not surprising that this 5-5 looks different than yours.

Best,

Beautiful model 5 - you've got something really special there (but you didn't need me to tell you that). And the 26 ain't too shabby either.;)

Okay, Ron, I'll bite. Who's the model or where did that photo come from? Not too many times you see a Randall presented in that format. She is almost as pretty as my wife. :p

Hi Tom,

Some guy posted that photo on another Randall forum a year or so ago. If memory serves, he ran across a herd of Playmates in Atlanta at some function and talked one into posing with the 26. The photo was removed shortly thereafter, but not before it found a position of honor on my hard drive. :D

Best,
