Saw steel, wrought iron and elk, Blade measures 9 inches and knife is 14 inches over all. I still need to finish a period sheath for it but for now I just wanted to post a pic of the knife.

Thanks for looking

Very nice!

Simple and clean.

Makes me want to watch a cowboy movie or something like that out in the wilderness way back when.

Good piece . I imagine the sheath will really make it stand out.

You got the antique look spot on, excellent job. May I ask how you got that look?
Thanks in advance,

Peter

Hi Peter, I polished the blade and fittings to a mirror finish. The fittings were given several treatments in ferric chloride wiped clean and treated again, about three times. On the last treatment I removed them from the ferric chloride and dropped them to soak in baking soda and water without whipping the down. After about a half hour removed them from the baking soda and whipped them dry then carnuba wax. With the blade I first splashed it with muriatic acid for only about a minute then washed it off. Then I soaked it in ferric chloride and wiped it down twice, neutralized it with baking soda wash. Then gave it a mustard treatment washed it with baking soda again and waxed.

Thanks all can't wait to finish the sheath, I love this period stuff.

Finally finished this yesterday. It came out with the aged and slightly used appearance that I was hoping for

8/9oz leather sheath with antiqued brass tip and throat with a brass ball frog button.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking.
