Here is the Aurum etched 112s blades I showed some time ago on the forum now all in 112 frames thanks to Samuel R Shortes of Aurum etchings and former employee of Buck knives and custom knife maker Leroy Remer.
The twin blade is a 1 of 1 and the buck HD 903 Bowie knife is a 1 of only 2 made. The other 1 of the 2 was originally sent to Buck knives as an intermediate version to the final production type. It differs in a few ways from the standard HD 903 Bowie (re gold infill on eagle and scroll), Leroy Remer fitted the crossguard and amboyna burl handle and assembled the twin blade knife from two knives and made and fitted the back springs. A job well done Id say!!!

Does anyone know where i can find the yellow older type boxes and or sheaths that came with the 112 ??

Tim,

That is a very nice collection of Aurum bladed knives. I really like the one with the lab and the upland hunter. Yes...very very nice knives.:thumbup::thumbup:

The 112 yellow boxes from that era show up on eBay from time to time. It may take a while to get all the boxes and period sheaths. An alternative would be 112 Jewel Cases. Contact Ozark Cutlery in Joplin, MO, USA and speak to Mike for the Jewel Cases. He might have enough left for your needs. FYI.

Thanks for you help, i had not heard of Jewel cases before.
Thanks for the comments, they are nice, the bowie was nicer than expected they have a brilliant mirror finish. Now I have to work out what to do with them.
Regards Tim

Wow TT,

Those are fantastic! Leroy did a super job getting all those loose blades into a frame.

my friend i am sure you will come up with a fitting idea!
they are sweet! thanks for sharing!

Thank Dave
I might not have happened apart from you, cheers.
I saw a plain non decorative non radius handled twin blade 110 112 sell for $450 a few months ago, I was very surprised.
Leroy did a nice job on it.

You know guys we are very fortunate to have at our disposal someone of the caliber as Leroy, to fix up our Buck knives. DM

Im not sure what year they were done but they are much nicer up close than in most of the poor photos Ive seen of them. They are a brilliant mirror reflective finish on the blade which is hard to show in photos. I saw a standard one sell on ebay for $200 about a month ago, which is an excellent price for one.
Leroy was the one who did the Bowie project when Buck were making these.

the blade is from the bowie issued by buck for the USA bicentennial
1776 knives blades were made ...
not all sold or were assembled there were blades left and
this looks like a other later issue or build out i believe..
also Leroy has been know to rehandle quite a number of these very nicely...
there were even 6 custom shop saw back rambo style fighters made from this blank!
i had #6 once but ... sadly choices had to be made..

I got the knife at the Buck factory store during the BCCI aniversary. Yes I beleive it is a build out. They said it was 1 of 100 with stag handle. Are Aurum etched blades maked in any way to identify them?

Hi Longbow this is a note from Samuel Shortes the President and founder of Aurum Etchings he asked me to pass this on to you.

Sometimes the Aurum Etchings knives had our name or our logo on it. Buck always wanted to sort of represent that they did everything themselves so they asked us not to be so bold with our name. We eventually tried to hide our logo in the art.

The 1776 commemorative can be identified because his is exactly the same as regular edition which we did. He might look carefully in the art work for either a name or a "rising sun" with an "Au" in it. Aurum in Latin means "gold"----that is "gold etchings." The chemical symbol for gold is "Au."

I want correct myself, re Proto Harley Bowie, it does differ but the differences are not the gold infil re black infill, both were made as standard. I have another knife coming in the mail, the first knife acid etched with engraving at the old Buck Knives facility. I hope to post some pics, it will eclipse every other knife I have.
Regards Tim
