Hey guys, here we have a very early Benchmade 42 Bali-Song in the original Sandvik 12c27 blade steel (unstamped). It is brand new in the box and has never been used, sharpened or carried. It also comes with the original sheath and paperwork. This is the old T-latch model with the Sandvik steel, which is better than the 440C they switched to later.
I think this particular piece may be an early unmarked proto or in-house piece of some sort. The pivot screws are of the hex variety, which is what Benchmade used to use before they switched to Torx variety on the production 42. There are also some minor casting issues on one handle, so perhaps they were still perfecting the mold.
It's a heck of a knife. Neither issue affects functionality, and in my opinion, just marks it as the earliest 42 I've seen. Nice collector or user model. Asking $175 shipped in the U.S.
