So when I see rivets through the handle, does that mean its a full-tang chiruwa-style see-metal-all-around-the-handle kind of rig?

That description works for me UD! ;)

This is the first time I have seen a Sher Bowie and I hope next time I will be the lucky person who snares it! :D

Nice avian photo too.

Guys,

Just got the bowie. OMG!!!! The love of steel is a wonderful thing.

Capable. Tough. Impressive. Mine. ( Until I have to send it to North Carolina to my brother that is)

This is a tank. If you want to split a hair, I'd have the handle about an inch longer. My hands don't quite fit. It will fit his hands perfectly, though.

But, it's an awsome chopping machine. There is a turkey that is going to fall to a flurry of blade strokes next week.

Great to hear! Hope its not HI sacrilege, but I do plan on changing out the handle to a larger size. Looking for some nickle-alloy bar for "American-style" guard & buttpiece... might even go subhilt as well. Have some fossilized whalebone for the handle & California red abalone shell for trim. So glad you like yours... I mean - your brother's...
