Well finally the mail man decided to deliver my knife after what felt like weeks (read about 3 days). As I began to open the packaging I noticed how heavy the contents felt and began to wonder if I made the right choice. When the knife came into view I knew that I had picked THE knife for me. A GEC Tidioute #23 Pioneer Frontier Bone. Couldn't be happier .
First glance shows everything is flush and where it should be. No obvious flaws upon closer inspection either. As we all know the back springs are killer, but I was expecting no less from the reviews. Heck, I would have been upset of they weren't as tight as I heard
. The bone is simple, but beautiful and fits this knife perfectly.
The blades are what really surprised me. I was expecting smaller blades such as found on stockmans and other popular patterns. The blades are somewhat large but elegant. Neither have any visible flaws. I took them both to an orange and they showed no mercy. While they couldn't shave hair, they sliced through the orange like butter .
Overall I love this knife! The only reason I could see someone not liking this is possibly the weight, but I love heavy/big knives
. Feels a little heavier than my Vic spirit. Definitely give this knife the thumbs up.
Edit: Forgot to mention that the half stops are perfect, and when fully opened sounds like a locking knife
