Wow, UPS just came and dropped off 10 new Bucks. It's like Christmas come early, but my birthday is before that, so that's how I've justified them!

These two are from L.L. Bean and are the stacked leather handled 102 and 105. I've always wanted a stacked leather handled fixed blade, but I never got around to buying one and after I settled on Bucks as my favorite knives, I wouldn't buy a Case. If I had my way, they wouldn't have had the blade etch, but Oh well. Each came with a little Nano Bantam as a bonus. They are made in China, but they will make cool little keychain knives.

I also got all the single blade 301's and the Palmwood 118 that I ordered from Buck, but I'll save those for later. The 301's are really nice!

Are you sure the 283 is the China one? The 283 is US made this year...

You know what? I had actually only looked at one of them. It is stamped "China" on the off side, but the other is stamped USA on the Buck side. I read in the catalog where they were going to use up the old stock that was made offshore, so it looks like I got one of the leftovers and one new one. They both have the 2010 date stamp though.

Those are nice. Nostalgia lane. They remind me of the knives I used when I was a kid.

The blade grinds and the LL Bean logo on the blade are different on the two Bantams. Too bad they weren't both the USA models.

Sweet knives Dave, enjoy em. Glad you got somethin youve been hankerin for:thumbup:

The only thing that keeps me from buying those leather stacked knives is the huge LL Bean stencil on the blade. Yuk!!

Very nice knives and pics Dave! Thanks! Why are you always teasing with "saving pics for later though" :D LOL ;)

Flat, a quick email to Joe, and I bet those etches could be gone!

I agree. A little blade stamp on the spine of the blade or on the tang would be more classy. Who wants an advertisement billboard on their blades? One shouldn't have to send them out or do anything to have them removed, just make them look nice to begin with. End of gripe. :)They are beautiful knives otherwise.

What do they call the finish type of the USA(right) 383 Nano? I see it more and more. At 1st i thought it was only on the 154cm, but I have it on my 285 and I have seen it on other 420hc blades.

Happy B-Day Dave, nice knives you got your self... So when is Birthday??? Have a good one... ITE ...

Those leather handled fixed blades look great, especially the 105. I did try to buy one from LL Bean - although they are very big on international sales they won't sell knives internationally - dangerous goods you know.
