I'm sure this has been brought up before, but my search turned up nil. . .

Does anyone know what steel was used for the earlier Spydercos before they started stamping it on the blade? How does it compare to the steels used in today's Spydercos?

I know of Gin 1 and G2 steel. They used those before also with stamping the blades.

Strangely, GIN-1 and G-2 are the same steel! It's not a bad steel at all, even by today's standards. I have a Hunter with that blade steel that I use every now and then. No problems with it.

Yes they are the same steel.. I like my gin 1 steel spydies.. The steel is good to go for me.
