Did the early BMs have the resperine handles? Is the included pic a BM? If so is it rare at all? To me it looks like a Basic 9 but the one's I've held were full flat grinds if I remember correctly and this one is a high sabre grind.??

Thanks,

greg

That looks cheesy to me:D But I don't really know much about the older knives. Someone that does should be along to help.

(as in a rat)

I agree, something isn't right about it. Here's what the guy originally had to say:

Here are some Photo's of the 1998 Busse Mistress this Knife was bought at the Indy 1500 Gun & Knife Show in the fall of 1998 by the original owner and it has been in the Safe ever since it is MINT.

He's also telling me that Ratweilers originally went for $375 and I'm thinking it was around $190 or so but I may be wrong. He's actually into other knives though so I'm thinking he's just relaying what he was told.

Any info is appreciated.

thanks,

Greg

Maybe Jerry made a few odd variations back then, but that's not what I remember the first Battle Mistresses looking like.

They were more like this:

thats a swamprat battle rat. it originally retailed for less than 200.00, i believe around 150.00 or so.

of the early swamprat line, of which the ratweiler was one, none were anywhere near 375, unless it was a custom shop. but i still find that hard to believe.

That is nothing more than a Swamp Rat Battle Rat....Retail was in the neighborhood of 140ish they currently go for 200-250 depending on color and condition. The FIRST Busse with a Res- C handle was the Tali-Whacker. Only 68 were released to the public and it says "Tali-Whacker" on the side. Ratweilers were 170ish when released. I would call the fella "mis-informed" RWs go for 200-250 these days.

It has a penetrator tip....a small, but nice feature.
