Can someone please direct me to a vintage Buck identification link? There used to be a page on Buck's website, but no longer.

I just picked up a 105 without the 105, and the "BUCK U.S.A." on the tang is upside down relative to the newer ones. It has "105" on the back of the sheath. I'd like to know what year it was made.

Thanks.

Dog, Welcome.Your knife was made in early 1972. As that was when Buck started stamping their knives using a 3 line stamp and the first were inverted like you state.Later that same year the stamped was changed to the way they are now.Hope this helps.DM

Thanks, David. Here are a couple of photos, just to make it clearer. (It is stamped only on one side of the tang.)

It's got some wear, but I'm not complaining. It was $4.00 at a yard sale.

I agree with D.M. that's a 1968 to 1971, Blades a little worn but very nice knife for a yard sale. $4.00 is a very good price { you want to double your money } the sheath alone is worth more then $4.00..............................:D

I just seen were your from San Diego, I have relatives that live out there and I find some good deals on Bucks at the swap meet they have down town. My Dad lives in Oceanside and I hit the swap meet there also, great deals you can find.

I lived in Carlsbad for 10 years, worked for Carlsbad Water District.

Dog, your welcome. My pleasure.I've noticed thru many postings that guys in the San Diego area have easy access to many Buck knife deals. I guess it has to do w/ the Buck factory being located there for so long.DM
