I took this out of its case to take a couple of pictures for a friend today. I thought I’d share them some of them.

This is a design that Chris played with, a hand made improvement on the ubiquitous Opinel design.

To the best of my knowledge he did 2 runs,1 when based in South African and a second after the family move to the US. 155172B2-D57E-4EA1-9402-76E71955C690-26900-0000197C7837E693.jpegC8E6DC7F-1468-4BA4-902C-A9134981F755-17117-0000048B0EF7E8E9.jpeg08D89840-74B8-4583-82AE-B69A7496DB2F-17117-0000048B0F2D727F.jpegIMG_2029.jpeg18AE4E55-32AE-4F45-B293-F61FEFCF8214-26900-0000197C7918E95F.jpeg

Nice one. I suspect this one was made in the later U.S. batch. I have one of the early ones and yours has some significant differences.

Most excellent piece. Thank you for sharing.

Can you post a photo of yours please?
I remember seeing some information about these a long time ago but not much!
Apologies I thought I had an individual picture of it but apparently I don't.
Here it is with some other stuff I picked up over the years. (the Lock 45 and small Sebbie belong to a friend)
In the next few days I'll dig it out of the flower pot it's buried in, wash off the soil and take a few pics. ;)

Steven65 Steven65 can you take some pictures of those other CR gems in that picture. Love to see more pics of the daggers and the one in the clog sheath! 😍 La Femme?

Sure nickpp nickpp , no problem. I knew I had a better one of the Helix I just had to find it.......... ;)

This one was an order from Chris in '83. It was the first real custom knife I ever owned. 440B Tambooti. The wooden scabbards were a real problem to make and Chris ended up discontinuing them very quickly. Only a few out there..........

So awesome. I wish there was a “drool” emoji!!

A wonderful selection of Chris’s knives you have, Steven.

Thank you Sir, the benefit of being in the right place at the right time........... 🙏 :)
Stephen the bottom dagger 1A2
Is that number one made in A2?

My favourite is this one as you well know. Lol

It was definitely made from 440B. I'm not sure of the numbering system Chris used for this one. It could be the No.1 of Model A2. Chris made a number of variations of this dagger over the years.
These skeletonized boot knives were made by several South African makers at the time such as Peter Bauchop and Andrew Frankland. I suspect Chris got the idea from them. (Chris and Andrew were friends)
This knife was made for a very well known SA collector who was a long time friend of mine and I purchased a number of his knives shortly before he passed about 15 years ago.

Chris made about 50 of these (below) for me when I was selling OPK's in the UK. They were made from D2, un-numbered, black Kal-Gard and came with a plain black sheath. I sold them for £45-00😆

This one below I gifted to a close friend for his Birthday around 1989 and he carried it around Durban for many years..........Should be worth a tad more than £45 now!🤣

@nickpp
I think this is the same model.
I believe after education from Steven that the dagger is “Sting” and the smaller knife “Bee” 🐝

Yeah I sold many of these in the UK. If you found them in the UK those two would have probably both passed through my hands. The Bee sold for £30-00.
