Got surprised by the mailman and my lovely wife last weekend with an early present, a GEC/Tidioute scout in grizzly bone!

I was trying to decide between the slippie model and the 72 lockback with the spear blade, so after all the holidays I will probably have both. This is only ny 2nd GEC and am really liking this company, just wish they'd put in a lil extra time on the blade edges. Really shouldn't have to shapen right out of the tube.

Brad, beautiful knife and an all around great pattern. Definitely a good user and a workhorse of a knife.
GEC had a really bad way of sharpening knives for a while, so to get a dull one from a couple years ago is nothing new, but their newer knives produced this year really have a much better edge.

Wow! That´s a nice looking knife. Congratz!

Is that in standard 1095 steel or anything else?

Kind regards
Andi

Do you plan on making a user out of it or keeping it mint and let it appreciate value ? Either way I think you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it I feel GEC is the top dog ( in the production slipjoint world ) as far as quality goes and I have yet to be dissapointed with any of their knives and I own several.

She's a user, in pocket at work right now, sliced through some nylon straps earlier like a champ. Really like the 2 I have, becoming a fan of GEC.

Alright....it's a fine lookin knife....but you really need to get into one of the 23s of you like that scout. Also, Is that grizzly? I've got a 23 in the grizzly and the bone looks different. Maybe I'm confused?

Edt- Yep, Your's is grizzly bone...just found one on the web....now I'm wondering what the heck I've got!

GEC is responsible for my buying spree in the month of september. I purchased one GEC unxld slipjoint every week for the month and ended up with a stag Calf Roper, an Ebony Scout #73, a stag Barlow, and a stag easy open jack.
Strong, reliable and classic. So much character in such a small package.

Congrats!
That is a great looking knife, and I love that GEC puts a lanyard hole on them. I finally purchased my first GEC yesterday, it was a tossup between the Scout pattern and the Conductor which I bought.

I have a feeling I'll end up with a Scout eventually, or the #73 small lockback with the Wharncliff blade. Darn you GEC!

Is the Scout a fairly thin knife? I have limited experience with single-blade slippies, but that looks like a pocketable knife despite its length.

Frosty
