Hello All

I have two questions...what were the earlier Khukuri blades made from before truck leaf springs and how strong were they????

The H.i. Katana...how does it compare to a Japanese Katna???

Thanks
Brent

I can't speak of metal sources much before the 20th century, but I do know that British railroad iron was one source of khukuri material during WWII.

No experience with katanas, can't help there.

Hi Brent! Welcome to the Cantina and HI Forum!!! :D

As too your question ---- There Is No Comparison other than appearance between the two swords... Instead of just talking about oranges you're really asking the differences between oranges and apples so to speak...

The HI Katana is similar to the Japanese sword but is much heavier built and even then can be bent trying to cut large bamboo as Danny in Japan experienced one time.
Broken Arrow, another member here, bought a cow spine to chop up with his HI Katana and it passed with flying colors.
The HI Katana is indeed a good sword just as is the HI Tarwar and the HI Manjushree.... all of them beautiful and useful.... when used within their limits...  :D
