Could someone explain early lock up to me. Is this a problem that can be fixed on its own overtime?
-Thank you

this simply means the lock stops a short way over the blade tang.

in and of itself, it does not mean there is a problem. if the lock slips and disengages, early lockup may be the problem. but it may not be.

in time, wear will cause the lock to travel further.

My orange millie had early lockup. A stupid friend tried to push the liner lock to the other side. Early lockup's now gone. Engages at about 40 percent. Needless to say my ex-friend won't be touching anything that's mine again. Why he didn't ask how to release the lock escapes me.

It wasn't a total loss, lockup is still solid, still no blade play, but he probably took a few years off of the useful life. Thanks for the sympathy. :D

I hear ya man I handed a framelock to my sisters boyfriend and he pushed the lock ALL THE WAY to the other liner. Like you said, "Why he didn't ask how to release the lock escapes me." I pondered that one for a good while!

If I'd noticed what happened to my knife there and then, there would have been blood and teeth on the floor. To quote another poster. :D

Was your knife damaged in any way?
