Is there some secret to taking these Micarta scales off?
Should I just knock the pins out?
Use the charm of making?

The secret is don't. That's the way that knife is supposed to be. I'd be happy to dispose of it for you.

Seriously you're probably going to have to drill it out. Unless you have experience it might be a good idea to have someone who familiar with it do it for you.

Okay, gotcha!

Why take it apart?

I was hoping to change out the scales.
They are on the thin side for me, and some color wouldn't hurt!
I also wanted to try and change it from tip down to up.
I'm one of those 'can't leave well enough alone' types.

Thanks, I guess it stays as is.

Ah, okay. That sounds like a major overhaul! Unless you have experience doing such a thing I'd definitely leave it, as you say, "as is". That looks like a fine classic spyderco, wouldn't want to mess anything up!
