I bought this recently for $135. Notice the clip has 2 screws

Also posed for the camera next to its great grandson, Mr. Para2 CF S90V :p:p

nice! How used was it? I see the lock travels straight across the lock surface to the other side. Were the first millis the ones that said military across the blade?

Nice score! What steel is it?

I'm not so sure about that lockbar though... Seems to travel a little far,

The edge is literally unused, it appears to be the factory edge. The rest of the blade seems to be in excellent condition; I haven't tried wiping the blade yet to see if its oil or just the way the coating is. I was wondering if the coating on this would be like the first delicas, etc which had issues with wearing off. The guy that sold it mentioned the lock as being not normal, but I think it makes it safer the further it goes provided its a tight fit? I plan on leaving it as is and keeping it put a way. There was a slight blade-play, but I tweaked the pivot to the perfect spot and it locks up solid. I believe the steel should be ATS34 or 440V/S60V. The blade is completely sterile and the only hint its a spyderco is the spyder on the clip; this makes me think its a very early production.

This is actually my 1st millie, I've always been a para2 guy.

The knife was found in a store in Colorado of all places :)

it indeed is very early production. has the older sypderco jimping as well. nice score!!!!

Use it! It won't appreciate enough to make it worth sitting in a cabinet. As for the lock issue, it may be able to be fixed if you rotate the stop pin or something. It's not good for it to go over that far. I'd fix it up and use it.

i'm pretty sure the first had the eccentric pivot. if so you should be able to choose the lockupyou prefer by loosening the pivot screw enough to free the bolt from it's ... hum milling (?) in the liner and rotate it one step. re adjust the pivot and check lockup. i did this to my ATR TI with great succes.in fact i disasembled mine completely to figure out how it work but i think that this is the only way to adjust the pivot without voiding the warranty as it's pretty much like adjusting pivot tension. i may be wrong on that.

You definitely right here. Early Millies do have an eccentric pivot. I have had to adjust my old workhorse 440V once or twice, the key here is BABY STEPS. A little adjustment goes along way.
