Early Mother's Day Gift

My wife had our first baby last August. It's been a blessed experience. Before having the baby, I was getting my wife into custom knives. She has a short list of must have makers. Even though she has grown to love knives, she is a girly girl who loves pink. The custom knife world isn't exactly flooded with pink handled knives. 3 criteria needed to be met; 1) smaller blade 2) pink 3) a Fiddleback or one of the other 2 makers.
One must have patience when trying to obtain the right knife. On one recent Fiddleback Friday, a Bushfinger with a purpleish burl was offered. I jumped on it hoping for the best. It wasn't quite right, a bit to big (I am still learning models myself) and not quite on the pink spectrum. Weeks have gone by and last Friday wouldn't you know, a Fiddleback that looked pink to me and some others! I had to take the risk and shark this blade. When FBF opened up the description called it a "red". I had slight hesitation but most of the time, you don't have time! So I sharked it up. Perfect timing for Mothers day I thought! It arrived yesterday and I just couldn't hold my excitement and had to give it to her today. An absolute homerun. The red didn't come out red and is on the lighter side for sure. A Hiking Buddy model that fits her hand perfect. Another feature she just loves is the black bolster, not to mention the great spalting. Thank you so much Andy and all those at Fiddleback, you really made this a great Mother's day gift.

Awesome buddy! I've got a pink Fiddleback for my lady for our anniversary a few years back. A woman that appreciates a fiddleback forge -priceless.

:)

Thanks everyone. And your last sentence scmittie is right on!

beautiful pictures
I suggest you and your wife take a closer look to ladyfinger for her possible next knife. Even the blade is slightly longer, the handle profile is quit slim and fit smaller hands perfectly. at least to me it is one of the most comfortable handles in my collection and one of my most loved knives.

Congratulations on the baby. Enjoy every moment - when they say that they grow up quickly, they are not kidding.

Nice score on the knife.

This is awesome man! I understand your struggle. I hunted and waited for a Hiking Buddy that was pink-ish but not too brightly pink, in a synthetic for my daughter. It took years to find the one I wanted for her that I knew we would both be happy with. It took even longer to land the right blue Bushboot for me wife. Congrats man, this is a moment to celebrate! Good looking family you have there. Just wait, it won't be long till you're hunting for the perfect Fiddleback for the little one there :)

Great looking family. And I must say... That spalting
Congrats on the knife and finding one that makes your wife happy.

Nice looking Hiking Buddy!

I agree with Taja. Look at the ladyfinger if you're considering a second Fiddleback for your wife.

Thanks for all the kind responses guys. I will certainly look into a Ladyfinger for her next knife!

I can't get my wife to get into knives. She won't carry what I've already given her! It's awesome that your wife appreciates what you appreciate! I have however won my daughters over at a young age. They like knives and will really dig their first Fiddlebacks :)

Thanks for sharing the nice pic of your family!

That's awesome Tech! I'm still trying to convince my wife she needs something more than her SAK Classic with flowers on it.
