I really have been trying to trim back the number of knives that I own as well as the number of knives that I literally carry each day. So with that in mind I am down to a select few that I have placed in a presentation/storage box that will be my go to box for my EDC rotation. The 'method' I have planned is that as you select what clothes you are going to wear, you also grab the next knife in the line up for that day. At the end of the day you clean/sharpen repair if need be and place it back in the box and take the next knife that comes up. And that knife carries you through the following day, so on and so forth.

So here is the box, nice wooden box from Germany, when closed the knives do not move around as the upper layer of foam compresses and holds them in place.

Shown here in order of carry,

Benchmade large Freek
Spyderco Shaman
Spyderco Cali 3.5
Benchmade mini Freek
Manly Peak2

Now, I will also be carrying some 'tools' that are not clipped style knives and are used in a more utilitarian role;

SAK Executive
SAK Pioneer
Manly Wasp sans clip
Buck 704v

but the main draw will be the designated knife for the day.

The weekend you ask? I haven't decided how to do that but I'll figure it out as I go, for now, this is the plan :)

I wish each of you a great new year coming, I'm looking forward to Jan 2020 as that is the month I figure on retiring from my day job, they are less than amused about that ;) but hey, I'm giving them fair warning!

I'm far too debilitated by ADD to pull that off, Gary... Knives would never make it back to the box.

I admire your choices, they should serve you well.

Congrats on your approaching retirement! I am only 5 or 6 numbers + the gold ball away myself!

I usually keep 3 to 4 knives that I carry/use. I carry a Gen 6 3" Hinderer XM and stainless ESEE Izula at work. I've got a Spyderco Delica Salt 2 I carry while fishing, Spyderco Dragonfly and ESEE stainless Izula in my truck. I'll rotate either a RAT ll folder or Steel Will Modus as my beaters for yardwork and messing around in the shop. I also carry an ESEE Junglas and Becker BK16 while hiking and/or goofing off in the woods. Plus I've got the Bugout I recently purchased from you which I plan to work into rotation for work carry.......sigh......I just realized I've got too many knives-lol!

And the funds from the Bugout are going towards paying off this watch that just arrived today, gotta move one thing in order to get another and this time it was a watch that called to me. Very nice, Titanium case and sapphire crystal with a flat black face keeping it nice and easily read in about any light.

And today's carry was the Spyderco Shaman, two days, two different knives, this may work yet ! :)

Very cool setup, limiting the number is always a good idea!
I’ve cycled through so many over the years but I will always have a couple Paramilitary 2’s and now a couple Bugouts always at the ready.

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. I have more knives lying out on my desk. I have a box too, but that didn't work out. The concept was the same although not regimented in some sort of use sequence.

40 would be a lot, so far this is working good, not a long test but I'm liking it. I have another folder inbound that gives me 6, so I am figuring on one more to round out the week !
Today, it's is the Benchmade Mini Freek, small knife that cuts like a big knife ;)

I store my edc knives in here( See pics below) Its attached to my night table. A old wash board and an old come bottle delivery tray blended together.

My random buying has been less over the years. Probably because I now know exaxtly what I want and need from a knife. Its funny you mention the knives and clothing rotation. I have a similar method. New day, different cloths, different knives. I clean and sharpen my knives the way I do laundry. About twice a week I take the dirty pile and clean them.

I can't wrap my little head around the various ways of opening & closing a blade. If I carry a lock back for a day and a flipper the next and my navaja the next day I am all confoosed. Some of us can only handle one knife as an EDC.:(

Otherwise - I'm with you Gary  :)

I mentioned this in another thread (somewhere): "a year and a half to go, I can do it, I can do it..."

I used to try and carry a different knife each day but I found that I only chose from a few favourites and most just sat in the drawer of my night stand.

I now am trying to carry the same knife for a whole week. This way, I really get to know (and hopefully appreciate) each knife. I have roughly 23 different knives, but my rotation is 8 or so. By the time I have gone through 23, I'll start over and it will be like getting a new knife.

What slowed me down was to put all my knives into my safe... all but one!

That knife is my carry for the week as it's kind of a pain to get into my safe so I'm unlikely to go in there on a work day just to switch out a knife. When the weekend comes than I'll grab a new one for the weekend and either carry it for next week, or swap it out for the start of the next work week, and so on.

Nice guys, and I like the watch I have now, glad to have stumbled across it!

And I think I tried doing one knife each week a long time ago but didn't last long. But this new method seems to be a good compromise and like you say, it's like getting a new knife when it's turn comes up.

I'm looking for one more to round out a week, but not too concerned or in a hurry, no money can do that :)
