So, my good buddy kidcongo (thanks Cody) posted on my happy birthday thread (Thanks Paul)"Best wishes Mikepapa1! Buy yourself a new knife to celebrate!!" Well I don't need a lot of prodding to buy a nice knife if I see one that fits my mustard.. I seen this knife a few months ago posted on one of the other forums. Now you all know that I am pretty conservative when it comes to knives, and I prefer "Original" out of production knives of the CRK variety. Oh, I stray occasionally but for the most part I stay with the older out of production Chris Reeve Knives. But I don't know what it is about the Zann.. I love them!! Oh, here I go again taking the long way around the barn. Anyway so I seen this knife posted on one of the other forums back a few months ago and I fell in love with it. But I didn't get it. (I'm sure many of you have seen the knife, although we all love BladeFourms we do visit the other sites from time to time) Anyway as things do.. it became available again about a week ago.. So, to make a long story longer last night in the wee hours just before my birthday ended I made a deal with the owner (Thanks voiceman!) and it is on its way to join my ever growing Umnumzaan herd.:D I think that those of you who have not seen it will like it.. but regardless I love it. Old School Early Zaan. (January 29 2009) in like new condition with a very NICE PIMP JOB done by Dave Rydbom of Kingdom Armory. I think its Awesome!! I hope you do to.
All the best,

That's really tasteful. Love the anodized spacer and blue o-rings. Is the pivot titanium on and old zan? Just wondering how they anodized it.

Thanks Cody! Hardware is steel and was "Heat Colored" from what I understand. I am not a big fan of "Pimping" a knife, especially a Chris Reeve Knife, but I think in this case it was done very nicely!

Thats really nice, I like the colors on it. You know that one has to be a good one because it was born on my birthday, just a few years after I was born. ;)

Dave, I think you need to change your user name to "Zann Man".

Thanks Cowboy! Yea I think it really looks good! Not over done..just enough work to highlight the features of the knife. But yet it kind of pops! :) "Zann Man" I like it!! But I like mikepapa1 as well!

You could not get a better looking Zaan, just beautiful, classic blade with a little touch of extra work, looks great.Like the anodization a lot.Great score, congrats "Zaan Man":).

I'm not usually a fan of most of the " pimp jobs " shown either but there have been a few that we're just beautiful posted, this one falls into that category hands down.

A very nice birthday present to yourself.
I saw in the other thread that we're the same age old man ;) how're you going to top that one for your 40th?

I may just take my Nyala with me on a Caribou hunt in the great Canadian North-Eh.

Thanks rexromic!! I agree, most "Pimp" jobs go a little to far. But I think Dave Rydbom did a great job on this one..hey didnt over do it.
All the best,
ZM :D

Thanks Rich!! I thought you would approve! Your absolutely right most go a little overboard with customization (Pimping) and it detracts from the already IMHO perfect design of the original Umnumzaan..in this case I think Dave Rydbom did a fantastic job of hi-lighting the real beauty of Chris Reeve's design without trying to modify it..
That Caribou hunt sounds like a great trip!! But as some one who has done a little hunting and a lot of fishing
in Alaska I prefer it to traveling to a foreign country where I would have a problem with the language barrier, I can never figure out when I'm supposed to say eh..lol :D And by the way my friend on Friday I was celebrating my 39th Birthday for the 18th ;)time.. ouch!! But like the song says " I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!" :)
Keep your powder dry and your knife sharp!
And as always, all the best young man! :D
