I just thought i would share a few of my collection to you people in the states, would anyone have any idea of it's age??
Cheers Paul.

Hi Paul!! you have 2 fantastic CRK's. I can't help you with it's age. That is a sweeeeeeeeeet blade!

It's a 7" Shadow II, made about somewhere in the area of May to July of 1987.

CRK started to add the stamp "Made in South Africa" or "Made in RSA" after April 1987. Being that it is #40 would suggest that.

Very nice Shadow II, congrats,

Thanks Westlen, you sure know your Reeves knives mate!!!
Any idea of a sales value as being in the UK knife laws are crazy and i am dramatically reducing my collection (with a heavy heart i must say!!)
Thanks Paul.

Paul, value wise would probably range between $400.00 to $500.00USD But with the economy as it is and all knife prices falling and lowered. A selling price would fall closer to $350.00 to $400.00 The original box and birthday card would bring the sale price to the higher.

Another note for you is if that was made a few months later in the Autumn of that year. There would of been a good chance that it would of be made with D2 steel instead of A2 steel. D2 steel made early South African Knives bring in a more premium price.

Anyhoo ...your Shadow II is in fantastic condition for the age.

best regards,

Jules

Thanks again Jules, would it be possible to find out if it is in D2??
The knife has never been used, which in itself is remarkable.
Once again thanks. Paul.

Paul, you can ask CRK but my past experience is without the original birthday card, CRK can only estimate the age only within a few months time. And thats no help with the correct steel used. At the end of the day, it falls back to the birthday card and excellent record keeping.

In the past, there was a couple times a CRK knive's steel was known by falling within a series of numbers.

Example, if I have #52 w/ B-day card and #59 w/ B-day card both A2 Steel. And you have #56 without a B-day card. Your steel used would be A2.

From my records, you Shadow II is A2 Steel.

Regards,

Jules
