Alright anglers, what do you like to throw early spring to get the bass to bite? I've been on a senko thing here lately and have been getting bit on a wacky rig pretty often. What's working for yall?

Ice is just melting here but in the past I've caught bass on Jig N Pig and crankbaits early in the season .

A big single Colorado blade spinnerbait with a big trailer... like a crawdad.
Fish it on the bottom.
Lift the rod and feel the blade bump once or twice and let it sink.
Long pauses/rests between lifts.
Strikes come on the fall or the rest.

Ebtide , have you used the old Bass buster Scorpions ? I use to fish them like that .

I don't remember them by name…
I have one oldie, like early 80's, spinnerbait with a heavy head and a silver dollar sized blade.
Even has a barrel swivel for a line tie. Back before spinnerbaits were 'standardized'.

My favorite single spins are the Zoom short arms with the wire brush guard.
They rule.
Burn them in with braid and it's like a vibro massage for your hands :)

I throw ultra lite all year so I can usually coax a bite on most anything...but...it's finding the right color and speed which we know can and will change throughout the day.

I like fishing a heavy jig with a double skirt, 1/2 oz and up. Either a 3" curly tail fat grub or 2" crawdad rubber trailer. In and out of the elodea and hydrilla at about 6 to 9 feet, slow and long soaks. Sometimes a 10" purple and black curly tail worm rigged with a bullet weight (no bead) and fished just like a jig.

I use a 6'6" M/H fast action Garcia rod too. I've gone away from braids back to high quality mono, been sticking with Yo-Zuri hybrid, camo, 12#. Love that line. Takes knots great and has excellent feedback, casts really well too.
