I have a 2 3/4 in bladed, approximately 6 5/8 overall, fully serrated, metal handled, all phosphated/parkerized, early spyderco that I have no idea what model or value it is. Any help would be appreciated.

can we get a pic of the blade and handle? Or even a "looks like this model" type of post?

I'll most likely know it given a pic.

I would say it sounds like a Spyderco Standard with Black TiNi coating (aftermarket) or a Spyderco Worker with Black TiNi coating except that your description of the "blackening" sounds more like it was cold-blued by a user.

The coating on the Workers was rough and oxide-ish. It was removed relatively easily and was abandoned by Spyderco pretty early.

Prices for a coated Worker or Standard vary widely. The coated Workers were done by Spyderco and in mint conditon are worth their original MSRP. The Standards were coated aftermarket (licensed) and are still available from John F. Jensen.

Daaaayum, VW,

There's just no stumpin' you on Spydies! Good call, as usual! Haven't been to the home forum. Hope the folks are better today. Still waiting on Linda for the Crickets.....

Java, If I don't have a pic to go from, I'm a bit longer on answers... but given stats I can usually get them. I can usually get it right just from a closed pic too.
