Early teal season opened up here Saturday morning and the dawn broke to find all 3 generations of Cope men, in the blind for the first time. My Dad is 73, My son is 6, God what a great day. Thank You.

The first picture is Ethan in the blind goofing off with my flashlight before shooting hours I had left the blind to hide the 4 wheeler in the rozo cane along the headland so he and my Dad his paw paw were messing around until I walked back. The second picture is Ethan with a limit of blue wing teal, and the third picture is Ethan and his paw paw with a limit of teal back at the camp.

My Dad has a bad heart and other health issues and didn't know if that morning would ever materialize but it did I'm blessed man because of it. Truly one of lifes great moments.

Thanks. It was an awesome morning I still get kinda emotional just thinking about it, what a privileged life we have here in the United States where actives like this can and do still happen. The whole event just registers so heavily with me and so many different levels, family, tradition, life lessons, etc. being in that blind with my Dad on one side and my Son on the other when the Sun rose and the birds began to fly and the shooting started was priceless and changed me as a man. My Dad was looking like he did when was my age with eyes wide and death grip on his gun waiting for them to circle and light, and my little boy was practically foaming at the mouth mumbling shoot em Daddy, shoot em.

Still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end just thinking about it, what an awesome morning. My only wish is that everyone could share in a similar experience with their loved ones.

I know that seem kinda hooky, but it just really registered with me.

I only got to go hunting with my Granddad a few times and relish those memories.
Nothing kooky about realization. It's cool you have had that awakening. It will change things in you from now on.

nothing beats that bubba:thumbup:........ i never hunted with my grandfathers. they were alive then (one is still alive) but one never hunted much in his latter years. the other had health issues. your son is blessed to have you both in his life for sure. i love my grandpa's but something shared together of that nature is a young boy's dream whether he realizes this now or later. either way he will... cant wait to have kids of my own bc my father is in good health and loves to fish and sometimes hunt. i know he will be glad to hang out with his son and his grandson or grandaughter..

That is way cool. Teal are like the sports cars of ducks. They fly fast and corner hard. Excellent memories for your son. You are raising him right.
