How can you tell the original 2-screw Workers from the re-issued versions?

Just a silly question that keeps me up at night!!

Thanks, Dan

Hi Lureman. I can tell the difference in 5 secods, but I haven't really noticed the particular differences that I'm seeing.

I'll check when I get back to Golden.

Lureman,
If memory serves, the orginals are numbered on the reverse of the handle below the clip tip. The knives that were made for the Evolution set are numbered on the front obverse bolster. I've never directly compared the two, but the original handle slabs are very thin stock compared to even other early models with unbeveled edges. The clip (two screw)is not bent at the tip. Also the opening hole on the first model seems to be smaller. Sal would be the final authority on these points (please correct me if I'm wrong!)

Still chasin'..please keep at top.

Stellite (thanx) has some of them. I've got to dig up an old 2 screw.

Lureman,
Two more points: no lanyard hole in handle and the clip is marked : patent pending, (instead of patented with the number as with the later clips).
Thanks!

Up for Sal!

In my research for this same subject. It was my understanding that the scales were thin on the front but thicker only on the clip side to accomodate the screws for the clip. The top of the blade was sharpened not just a false edge. Plus the scales were square edge, not chamfered.

If I am wrong please correct me. I have been trying to buy one of these since I started collecting Spydercos and I have never found one. If anyone has a line on an original, I sure would like to know about it. The worker is one of my favorites Spydies of all time!!!
