Recently I received a very nice knife, the Spyderco Military in S30v steel, blown away by the edge that the knife can attain!

But one thing that drew me right away was the writing on the tang of the knife, I mean, just HOW far does the Spyderco Advertising market reach? ;)

Thanks Sal for such a great knife!

Just got a 440V Military in a trade a few days ago, and am similarly impressed, it's right here in front of me. Surprising considering I swore to never carry a liner-locker ever again. I really need to get one in S30V, though, this 440V is extremely frustrating to sharpen.

Does this mean production of the 440V Millies and previous editions was sourced out to the planets in the vicinity? I suppose it wouldn't be too surprising to find a region called "Golden, Colorado U.S.A." out there. But, beware fellow Americans, beware! The Jovians have come for your jobs; next they will come for your home and country!!!

/budding conservative nut-job ;):D

And I, for one, welcome our new Jovian overlords...

You never know,in 200 years that marking might be needed.

You're right, seems a bit vague. Maybe add....

"Golden, Colorado, U.S.A., Earth, Sol, Milky Way"

I absolutely love the fact that Spderco decided to stamp all new Militaries with "Golden, Colorado U.S.A. Earth".

IMHO there's nothing wrong with being proud of your products and putting a "Made in the USA" or "Made in Germany" or whatever on your items, but the simple addition of "Earth" elevates the thing to a whole new level. Like calyth said, we're all just Earthlings and there's nothing wrong in reminding ourselves of that simple fact from time to time.

Way to go, Sal.

Oh, my intention was never that it was wrong, only just where else do they advertise? :) I thought it was quite witty and liked seeing it on there, very cool!

Begging Sal's forebearance for speaking for him; I think it's Sal's way of stating that though we may have many differences, we all share the same planet.

Some Natives also have the "Golden, Colorado U.S.A. Earth" stamp. My example has it, sans punctuation.

I think it's a pretty cool idea.

LOL, I just got my Military 3 weeks ago and have been playing with it day in, day out. I NEVER noticed the "Earth" part until you brought it up. How funny! I like manufacturers with a sense of humor.

Maybe this even suggests some sort of Universalism to the knife. - Made on Earth to be used anywhere in the Universe... Or maybe it's late and I'm just babbling.

The "Earth" writing is cool. I hope Spyderco keeps using it.

I love that idea. Yet I'm not sure I'd like to see it on non Golden Spydies (except the Delica, of course) ;)

I think it was a FANTASTIC idea! The "Earth" marking makes my Native one of my most favorite knives and favorite to show friends. That one additonal word changes the imprint from just an address to an outlook, attitude, reminder, etc.. I love it.

Take it easy,
Bob Scott
