Ease up the draw from a Kydex sheath

Hi all,

Got a nice one today, a Randall King Syphon.

But the Kydex sheath is way too tight.
I've got plenty of knives with Kydex sheaths, but never had one as tough to draw as this.

I noticed that there was a touch of some kind of lube on the blade when I
was finally able to work the knife out of the sheath.

It's a skeletonized knife without handle scales; the blade's about 3 inches.

Any ideas on easing up the draw out of the sheath?
(I was thinking of using a couple of drops of FP-10 or other lube; maybe Tuf-Glide.)

Thanks in advance,

you can use either a hair dryer or boiling water to loosen up the sheath. heat it up a little and give the knive a little wiggle then let it cool. repeat until it fits like you want. if it gets too loose then heat it up and apply pressure to the sheath. just go slow and take your time. works for me.

A few drops of Tuf-Glide on both sides of the blade worked wonders.

The draw out of the sheath is excellent now; just the way it should be.

Be careful how much heat you use and for how long, I messed up a sheath by heating it too long. One way to get it right is to add tape where it is binding and insert the knife when the sheath is heated. Don't add tape near the tip of the blade but more near the hilt. It's best to have to try it 2 or 3 times than end up with it rattling in a loose sheath or falling out all together.
