Easier opening alternative to clasp?

I have a very nice Case Clasp knife. I love the size of the blade, the weight and size of the scales. My only problem is that due to some arthritis I find this knife harder to open than the slipjoints and lockback folders I have.
Big question: Is there a slipjoints or other easy opening alternative that is big and beefy with similar aesthetics?
Thanks for your input.

Not sure just how big and beefy you are looking for many older, as well as new EZ Open knife models can be had that are quite easy to open as compared to those without the EZ Open notch. The RA in my hands is similar to yours in that I found some knives getting harder to open and turning into nail breakers. You may also want to take a look at the Victorinox alox line of SAK's as they tend to be pretty easy to open. And I've also found that Fallkniven, while not "traditional", the blades on those are easily pinchable for opening purposes. If you'd like pics of some I've mentioned, you can PM me me.

If you specify more clearly what you're looking for, or a link, I'm sure some of our great forum members will have better advice than I. Good luck in the search! I've found that to be half the fun......and most expensive. Lol.

Oh - and I forgot to add, if you're referring to a larger sized knife, like a Buck 110 sized guy for example, you can order those EZ open studs that attach to the blade spine which do indeed help make them easier to open.

Ah, yeah, hadn't considered an Opinel. Available in all sizes. Good call!

+ 1 - posted this today in the Wooden Wed thread.

SAK Guy - is that a walnut on the top there. Wanting another but in some better wood. Have to look at their site again.

Ps - our Canadian project is underway too as we speak. ;) Woot!

The Opinel may be a very good choice.

As a sufferer of ostio arthritis in my hands, I have my good days and bad days. On rainy or cold bad dys, an Opinel is an easy knife for me to deal with. No springs, easy to roll the locking ring over. Can be adjusted tight to loose, or anywhere in between. And you can have fun sanding down the handles shape to suit your own taste.

The old German Mercator K55 may be another good choice. Easy to open or close, very flat in pocket, and the metal construction gives it a bit better heft in an old fashioned way.

In another thread, we were discussing the Queen Mountain Man. I have the lockback version, and it opens extremely easily, with smooth action and solid lockup. The slipjoint version will obviously require more effort to open, since there's greater spring tension on the blade tang.

Thanks everyone! I will look into these mentioned. I have no problem with opening any of my lockbacks or slippers but the Case is one tough knife to one sometimes. Never occurred to me that someday I might have any issues with any blades. This Clasp knife and my Sodbuster are the only ones that can be hard opening
