I had dificulty unlocking my RAM(another thread), not KAI's falt but mine. I have arthritus in my hands(old man) and sliding the slide down was hard for me. With just one micro turn with the T8 Torx, I eased the effort greatly. Just back off a VERY TINY bit and now I can unlock much better. Looks like this it it. Not too loose to where the blade wobbles now, but just enough to ease the release. Love the RAM.

gull wing: I did the same to mine just a micro turn as you said makes it better. It still fires like a Speedsafe knife. I'm really liken (a word?) my R.A.M.

Maybe they're overtightened a bit at the factory?

Glad loosening it up a hair does the trick. When
I get mine in, I'll check it out. Thanks for the info.

Did the same with mine. I turned it just enough so the
blade would fall from gravity alone. No blade play at all.

I was thinking about this...

I wonder if Kershaw overtightened them just a bit intentionally in the factory - to avoid "gravity knife" laws in certain states.

Thomas?

My guess would be yes. I just wanted mine this way to make it
a little easier to close without touching the blade.
A little practice and I now have this thing looking like it has AO/A-Closed. ;)

I haven't loosened mine up quite that much yet. I'm wanting to "wear it in" a little bit.

I had a chance to play with the prototype last year at the Outdoor Retailer's Expo here in Salt Lake City, and one of the most memorable things about the knife then was being able to pull the lock button, tip the knife, and have gravity pull it closed.

Of course... if it's that loose, then you can conversely hold the closed knife, pull the button, tip it and have gravity open the blade for you.

... which is what got me thinking about the "gravity knife" laws and the possibility that it was intentional.
