Easiest to open non-assisted folder

Opinions needed on the easiest to open, one handed non-assisted folder.

Want to stay away from springs and mechanical gizmos that can fail. no butterfly knives either. Trying to stay under the $200 price point

If you mean easiest as in fastest, then I'd have to say the wave as mentioned earlier. But if you mean easiest as in done with ease under a variety of circumstances, then the spydie hole would have to be the best bet. They're very easy to open, can't be flicked (as easily) like a thumbstud, but you can open them with gloves, or whatever. Very convenient.

Any CRKT with a Carson Flipper is dead easy to flip open.
If you are talking about opening with your hand, I agree with caryyee.

Caryyee, greetings and welcom to Blade Forums.

The flipper is probably the easiest like other have mentioned. Numb hands, wet and slippery, gloves on...none of it will matter.

I've heard good things about the Axis lock, but I don't own one yet so I can't comment.

Any folder with a hole in the blade, Spyderco, can be opened just as fast as an automatic.

I agree with the flipper or access hole - thumb stud. Axis locks are often considered gravity knives, so I won't carry one of those.

Tom,

Are they gravity knives only in NY? I keep my Axis locks tight enough to not be flung open but they still open perfectly with the thumbstud.

:)

Flipper. I'm almost as fast with the axis lock, but my flipper is hands down the fastest.

I haven't experience with many knives (other than than the "dinner" variety), nor hardly any experience with those knives to which I've been exposed, but, so far, the Spyderco's with the holes in 'em appear to me to be the handiest/fastest in un-assisted opening.

Dear, you should've changed your password. ***********

I HATE YOUR **** GUTS!!!

I hate it when that happens. :D (edited for lauguage)

One of the first knves that came to mind is the Combat Elite RRF manual. Mine is soooo smoooooth!! My Spyderco's are easy to open one handed and are non-assisted. Also, have you thought about the Benchmade Axis lock? I have a Ritter mini-grip, and it IS easy to open as well. Spyderco has the Ball Bearing lock, which I feel is smoother. None of the knives I have mentioned are Assisted Openers. I DO hope this helps! PS: The knives I have mentioned also have good, if not real good blade material. I personally would stay away from Columbia Knife & Tool, as the quality of their blade material has seriously gone downhill, in my opinion. And I would not waste my money on their knives. THAT is just me.

Aye, any folder that is waved will be easiest to open, provided you practice how to do it. Hell you should practice with anything you carry.

I don't mind the whole ripped jeans issue of the waved knives.

It just makes my jeans....cooler.

A flipper maybe for opening, but for opening and closing, nothing beats an AXIS lock Benchmade (except perhaps a D/A OTF Microtech).

Well I have an Emerson wave and when you pull it out it's open so thats about as fast as it gets. However for flicking open I really like the axis system, its a very smooth and fast flick + it is quiet.

Out of everything I have, Spydies, flippers, assisted openers, I find the Benchmade AXIS knives to be the quickets to open, and close as well.
