"East Wind."

I find it difficult to convey exactly what this knife means to me... I suppose it is meant to be taken as an expression of my feeling, perhaps beyond words.
The East Wind in this case blows from Asia... at night, over the sea and then the desert. It brings a hint of Jasmine and a fragment of haunting melody. It may portend destruction, but it does so with a caress.

Here is a knife that combines influences of larger, recurved fighting knives from throughout Eurasia.
It is forged from a bar of W1 steel, and the handle scales are of african blackwood.
The opposed tang is inlaid with copper wire in a simple scroll motif, and cold blued to enhance contrast.

Please excuse my terrible pictures. This is perhaps the most difficult knife I have ever had to photograph. The video is a much better reference as far as true details and aspect, and the hamon.

Cutting edge 10-7/8”
Overall length 16-1/4”
Max blade width 1-7/16”

Super hot spots, but conveys the whiteness of the habuchi-

Blurry, but it was the only way with my camera to get the whole hamon with no hot spots-

Yeah, that'll work. :D

Wow that's nice Salem. Could you explain the small dot on the spine above the ricasso?

A very interesting knife, and so well done!

If I could make a knife like that, I would probably have to keep it!

Do you have a sheath design yet?

Outstanding!

I really enjoyed watching your youtube clip explaining the details.

The knife itself is dead sexy, and I think I can appreciate the hard work that the method of construction required of you, since I followed this build in real time on so-med. However, I will never truly be able to appreciate that hard work until I try it myself- which this piece greatly inspires me to do.

Peter, that's just the terminus of the bluing- which I wanted to give some shape for style, rather than just phone it in with a straight line or something.

Creative and nicely done. I like the extra details and appreciate the video tour. Really added to the post.

Very Cool you have well rounded style and you keep adding to it. Its fun to watch

Inspirational again.

I still like the Blackwood on this style handle.
