Thought I'd try this - a takedown version of my hybrid "Eastern Firestorm" model. A bit of practise for future attempts to make authentic styled japanese pieces. Only thing missing is figuring out the habaki.

Blade - 6inches, hand-forged 1095 with a hamon that doesn't show well in the main pics. The detail shots seem to give hints of what the hamon looks like ion real life. Forge blackened tsuba sculpted to give it a cast look. Brass "seppa" spacer, and fileworked steel collar. Tasmanian Oak handle wrapped with black stingray skin, then nylon twist with epoxy coat. All locks together with the turned 416SS pin.

Feedback appreciated. I had fun with this one even though it took a fair while to complete. Jason.

Another beauty from down under.1095,too.My favorite along with Damascus. What a sweet temper line.Your hamon's are super.

I think from now on, before you show off a new knife, tell everyone to place their checkbooks far out of reach :) Excellent work as always.

Very nice work as usual, great blending of styles.I reallt like the hand hammered look of the tsuba and traditional tang. Whats the sheath like?

i want one, too! i'm a very big fan of "take-down" knives. is this one available?

To keep selling and marketting out of the Gallery, could you give me a direct email on kwongyeang@yahoo.com.au or jason@jcbknives.com Tried to send you an email but your profile says you are not receiving emails...

Haven't decided how I'm going to make the sheath yet, probably a regular snapped belt carry scabbard with some sort of inlay. Keep it clean to keep the visual focus on the knife and handle.

Thanks to all on your replies. Its amazing how much more precise the fit and planning needs to be to make it work as a takedown piece. I'll post pictures of the sheath as soon as I complete it. Jason.
