This isn't that special but I have had a few people ask me about these so I thought I would post my process for making them. It is basically just an inexpensive but effective take on the old inner tube trick.

I figured with all the talk about ARs in the ESEE forum lately, some of you could use this. If it will fit better in a different forum please feel free to move wise and benevolent mods.

Thanks,
Matt

I should also mention that some (maybe most) bike shops will give you some old trashed inner tubes just for asking. Everyone loves free stuff, especially when you can put it on your AR!

Maybe. Probably not many ACOG owners here. I'd love to have one but they're for sure out of my budget at this point. EOTech is my optic of choice for now, but another rig with an ACOG would be sweet.

Thanks Adaman.

The EOTech (and Aimpoint) are better for all around use. You are correct to stick with your EOTech (or trade for an Aimpoint). You can always build another rifle for the ACOG.

When I was shopping red dot optics I chose the EOTech for a few different reasons, mainly reticle. Personal preference I suppose. I’m running a 512 on my midlength.

People have the misconception that Aimpoints and EOTechs are 50 yard optics. Shooting clay targets (stationary!) at 200 yards is definitely doable with the 1 MOA dot of the EO if your eyes will do it.

Haven’t found the niche where a fixed 4x is what I’m looking for, but when I do, the ACOG seems to be the winner.

Thats a nice tip, too bad I have tritium illumination and not fiberoptic in my ACOG. I think I'll use that to cover a red-dot on mu levergun.

Maybe I should put "used bicycle inner tubes" in the For Sale section. Great idea too, by the way.
