Heres some pictures of a simple to build height adjustable table or bench for your grinder. This is a Reeder 2HP grinder on it.

The legs are from a cheap manual height adjustable table I think any office liquidator will have them at a cheap price they use an Allen bolt to lock them in place there are some with actual lock levers but I had these laying around.

I used a Subaru Forester scissor jack any free car scissor jack will probably work but pick a car jack with a little height to it so you have more travel, for my adjuster I welded a socket on it and use my milwaukee impact but a hand ratchet Or even a hex driver could have been welded to it for those of you with drills or hex socket impacts . Theres always an electric impact available in my shop so I picked a socket.

The casters were the only thing I had to buy there 400 pound HD from ebay they were $30 for the set I could have used lower weight one but the heavier weight seem to have better locks. I had them on hand for another project so in reality I built this for free in a few hours. The only part that required much thought was positioning of the grinder on the top plate. I used the board it was bolted to in shipping to figure this out before I cut out my plate.

It is very stable I had concerns that it might require being supported in the rear like being pushed into a wall but I have put enough force on it to know it wont fall over. Part of that comes from the width the casters are spread at the bottom So dont go to narrow here.

I had some scrap aluminum laying around ( Its kind of fun living in a world where that is what I call scrap aluminum) but you could just buy an office or restaurant table with adjustable legs and use the top for the actual bench top, I seem to use aluminum for a lot of my benches it doesn’t rust and it looks good. Point here is this table could be built for $75 to $100 if you sourced more affordable components than I used. Really all of this could be built from wood if you dont have access to an endless supply of metal, I seem to have an addiction to machine shops that are closing.

I have never made a knife but it sounds like Santa is bringing me a forge at least thats what one of his elves was asking about so maybe some day I will be hammering out a knife in the near future

Hopefully these images open up

Good job there and good thinking on the build. I can see where that adjustable height would be good if grinding part time sitting and other times standing. Good job.

Like you I do like using aluminum when I can.

Very cleaver!
Fill out your profile with your location. You never know what Santa may bring you.
