Hello, been toying with getting an Easy Open Jack as my hands stay sore these days from work. But being the traditionalist I am, would look for something older, not new....and with my lack of sharpening skills, something with good old carbon steel. :)

But here's the kicker, I'm not overly familiar with this style or makers that the style was popular with....would welcome your recommendations and would love to see any pics of yours to help me decide what to look for.

As always, thanks for your help!

Whoa momma!
Did somebody say easy-opens? One of my favorite patterns of all time. ;)
Here's a few.
Left to Right
-Ulster
-Remington
-Marble's stag
-Marble's brown bone
-Brent Cramer custom

That's quite a lineup, Corey. I was thinking of the Marbles ones like you posted when I first read this thread. I think those were ATS-34 and made by Queen?

I really like the EO pattern. Hard to find some old ones in good shape. Here's one by Winchester.

Those are some great looking knives!

I had an old ebony Waterville Cutlery Co. E-Z opener that Charlie now has. Maybe he has an image he can share.

I don't remember you having that knife, Elliott, but I hope Charlie does post a scan here.

I like the pen blade and long pull on that Ulster of Corey's.

WOW!!! Didn't realize there were these kind of beauties out there!! I might have liked them long before I actually needed one had I known.....where have I been???

Thanks for your help, and for sharing!!

Thanks Mike!
Actually those Marble's are 1095, and yes, they were made by Queen.

Here's an Imperial Army issue in brass. Someone tried to strip some live 110 with it.

Then there's the little guys...

I used to have a Cammy 4 line in all steel but it's a memory now.

Nice pattern! I think Queen is the only cutlery that has carried the pattern into the modern era. An old pattern.
Nice ones being posted;
Mike that Winchester is a Killer! Corey I'm partial to the oldies in your bunch, esp. The Ulster and Remington. Navi, the minis are cool too! And that Camillus!!!!
Here's a group I had out on the desk. Someone "sent" me one to look at, and I just happened to be comparing them! Nice coincidence. I'll do a thread on the "sent" one soon.

Nice Charlie. I like the Schrade and the Shapleigh Diamond Edge. Maybe some pictures of them with the pen blades out?

By popular demand, the Waterville, sitting next to a "Leafy" Wilbert!:)

No I don't file them alphabetically.;)

The Waterville has a lot of old-fashioned goodness! It's snappy, and has a nice shield, and is so cylindrically round, I had to put a weight on it to scan it; otherwise it rolls over and says "scratch my tummy"!!:D
When I'm sick of the modern world, and want to go for a walk on the beach, I might whet that baby on and old bench stone, and drop her in my pocket!
Almost takes me back to horse and buggy days!
It sometimes gets lost on my desk amongst some worn old goodies, but it's always fun to find it again!
Thanks Elliott!!

P.S. the scratch is on my scanner, not on old Wilbert!

A chorus line for Mike!
EOJacks3.jpg

Closeup to read the tangs!
EOJacks4.jpg

This is an old pattern as I said before. In the tang closeup, the fourth knife is a post-WWII Schrade Walden, indicating the pattern hung on for a little while past the War, with Schrade anyway. Note the pen blade is not stamped. Cutlery companies slowly stopped stamping all the blades as a cost cutting measure.

Man Charlie, if those shots don't oil your joints, nothing will! Those big spear blades are great.

Great thread. thanks for starting it twodogs. Thanks everyone, I have to go empty my drool cup now:D

Cory, Mike, Navihawk, Charlie, absolutely stunning assemblage of EO's.
Charlie, Every time you do one of these posts, I'm amazed at the depth of your collection. What a treat!

Thanks for the chorus line, Charlie. I got a kick out of it.

I really like that Wilbert. Think the pen blades got bigger over time, or is that a "rule of thumb" waiting to poke me in the eye?

Very nice lineup, Charlie. They all seem to be of the same length, regardless of maker, but how long are they, closed?

Thanks for the compliments folks.
They are all 3 5/8" long, and in the chorus line, they were all made by Schrade regardless of markings, except possibly the Last one (KeenKutter). I'm not sure about that one.

Such a great collection Charlie.
It seems to me that the easy-open jack was never a large sized pattern. All of the oldies I've seen range anywhere from 3" to 3 5/8".
Those 2001 Marbles of mine measure in at 3 3/4" but I never see that kind of size to the vintage ones.
