Ok here is my story messed up both my hands at work so I sit at home and play with knifes only problem is hurts to unlock lockbacks and liner locks. love the 810 contego but thats all I've been buying for the last couple of weeks I have 5 and one on oreder so down to my last $140 do I order another contigo or Is there another easy to open heavy duty folder over 3 1/2 inces made in the Usa with cpm-m4 or better (after using cpm-m4 iam spoiled) or is the contego the only game in town for under $140?

If the liner lock hurts, grab something with an Axis lock, like the Adamas. It doesn't take long and gravity does most of the work.

does it have to be tuff, or can it simply be tough?

sounds like the axis lock is working for you. might as well stick with it.

find another bm with cpm m4 steel or m390. you might be happy with d2 also, though I wouldn't pot it on m4's level.

Yeah I'am on pain killers so forgive my spelling even though I still can't spell when sober lol by the way I think its put not pot ha ha ha just joking. after cpm-m4 d2 seems like a big step backwards. the adamas looks nice though.

The D-2 on the Adamas is no slouch. They don't get much more heavy duty than the Adamas. (Brick ****house)

It opens a lot like the Contego. They heavy blade does most of the work.

What about an Axis Assist. Like the Barrage 581 in M390 steel. I don't have a 581, but I have the mini barrage. It sure opens easy, but it's harder to close. I think you can de-assist the barrage also.

hogues button lock is super easy to use and locks up just as solid as a framelock or axis lock if not stronger. the EX-01 is an absolute brute of a knife comes in 3.5 or 4 inch blades as well as full g10 or full aluminum and they are right at your price range.

how impaired are your hands and what about a liner lock hurts? the reason i ask is so I can have a better understanding of what knives wont cause you issues.

I've always thought that button lock folders were, in general, weaker than locks like the axis.

Do you have some reason (proof) for saying that it's stronger, or is that an opinion? Just curious.

Out the front auto like BM Infidel . Now that will be fun to play with while on pain killers!!!! be careful.

They do weight tests on video, and the components look pretty solid, both in design and machining quality. I'd get one in a heartbeat if they had one with the right overall design.

Look pretty solid? Care to find one of these tests?

I dont know how to post videos from my phone but allen elishewitz the designer of the Ex-01 does stress tests on youtube. The button lock is designed to be self adjusting so it never gets front to back blade play.

You sure you should be messing around with knives? If your hands are so jacked you can't pull out a fixed blade. Fooling around with or using a knife may be dangerous.

I was thinking that as well.

I'm sure either way he's not a child and wise enough to make his own decision :o

I messed up both my hands working as well and it's hell not being able to do the simplest thing or it taking 100 times longer. Hope you recover soon.
