A good friend of ours wanted me to build him an orange scaled hunting knife in trade for some antlers, cow bone, and Hedgewood-Osage Orange, and this is what we put together for him. This is my eighth knife, ground free-hand with no rest, so it's not totally perfect, but I am striving to get better.

1/8 80CRV2, flat ground, orange G10 over yellow and black G10.

Your title is sooo true. I made my brother a knife with an antler and leather stacked handle. He dropped when skinning a moose and couldn't find it for an hour. Luckily he stumbled across it before he headed back to camp. It would be impossible to lose yours though.
 
Thank you, Shane. That sounds like an absolutely gorgeous knife, it would be neat to see a picture of it. That knife definitely means a lot to the both of you, losing and never finding such a knife would have been a hard pill to swallow, so I am glad that he found it.

Our friend wanted orange specifically for the purpose of being able to find it in cases just like that. The sheath is going to have a little pop to it as well, it's already dyed black, we are just waiting on the orange Tiger Thread arrive.
 
I like the subtle handle shape on your knife. And what did you use for the lanyard hole? It looks cool.

Shane, thank you for posting a picture of your brothers knife, it's a gorgeous knife. Defintely wonderful execution of natural products, it's great that he found that beauty.

The lanyard tube material is 3/8" carbon fiber tubing, we ordered it from McMaster Carr.

I spent a good hour looking for my skinning knife after skinning a moose too! I put an orange lanyard on it to help in the future. Your knife looks great. I like the profile. On top of the profile that knife is going to be easy to spot. You can bet that knife is going to be in his hunting pack for a long time.
