Easy Way to Make Blue Thumbstuds Silver

I really wanted silver instead of blue studs and spacer, but, at the time, I just couldn't find what I was looking for, so I bought the standard blue.

Well, I noticed a few speckles of rust forming below the thumb stud from the oil on my skin constantly touching there, so I took the blade out and took some Flitz metal polish and cleaner to it. I noticed that it was notably fading the blue off the stud during the wipe down with little actual attention being paid to the stud itself, so i started rubbing away at it. Sure enough, the blue came right off and left a nice, dull silver in its place. It's not as bright and shiny as the factory silver studs, but it's close, maybe even a nicer, more subdued shade.

Anyway, I used a regular wash cloth to rub the blue away, worked on the spacer as well. I had to use my finger nails(which were luckily long at the time) to really get into the grooves in the studs, but it came out nicely. I figured I'd share this easy solution to the blue that annoys some folks, myself included.

Here are the pictures. They are lousy because I don't have any daylight, but you get the idea:
