Well just recently there have been some posts concerning a new Al Mar automatic called the Wortac. Of course I jumped right in and made the comment that " if made by Paragon it will be a peice of junk" not exactly the words I used, but that was what I was trying to convey. I walked by it twice yesterday at the Charlotte show and just shook my head thinking that somebody is going to get stuck with a peice of crap. I finally picked it up and what a surprise! Good fit and finish, slim but enough weight to let you know it is there, and most importantly a TIGHT blade. I fired it several times and it locked up each time with a tight, no wobble blade. I mean tight as in Microtech Socom Elite-A tight! The plunge lock is rather large and is tapered to take care of wear. One of the biggest improvements was the pocket clip. No more shiny cheap looking clip. This one has a nice subdued finish and the handle is inlet to allow the clip to be more flush. Nice touch! Blade finish could stand to be improved a little bit, but I did get a hand ground blade so production ones may have a different finish. So I guess I have to eat a little crow on this one. The Al Mar Wortac auto is quite a knife and is priced well to sell. Anyone with a Crawford Wortac would do well to add the auto model.

Well, I'm not "that" down on Paragon. Not quite MT quality, but not quite MT prices either.
I just got my Wortac and opened it today. It is a beautiful knife. Serial # 34. The large handle fits the hand well and also seems to wear very well also. I was suprised!

At first, I was disappointed, because the blade had the dreaded Paragon "wobble". But after a minute of adjustment, and a couple drops of super lube, the blade is locking up rock solid. And still has a nice snap to the blade. I am quite pleased!
