A thread a while ago - and I mean a while ago - people were talking about firepistons.

I mentioned an e-bayer by the name of 'ebprimatives' that sells firepistons. I talked to him a while back and he is back making them again.

I have his work and it is great for the buck. Check him out if interested.

I hope this is not seen as deal spotting - I don't have any affiliation with the seller and am not posting a price.

I got one the other day, but I am leaving it in it's box until Christmas. His prices are great and shipping is fast

Thanks for the heads up. My paypal account is $30 lighter but I can't wait to try one of these things out. It never hurts to have another tool in the toolbox.

Hmm which model to buy, there are a few different models.
Anybody have any preferences?

Thanks for the referral! I just ordered the canoeist. Looks like a well-made unit. I'm going spearfishing for a week so hopefully it will be here when I return!

Got mine in two days and I've been messing with it ever since. Great little gadget, thanks for the heads up!

i have had a full fire piston kit from E.B primitives, for about 4 years now, a friend got it for me for christmas.. i love it.. i really like the little tinder cans he makes..

Got the canoeist kit and it is really nice. I agree with Mike that the tinder box looks like a great idea. I'll give it a test run tomorrow.

I doubt the really serious ultralight guys will be carrying this fire piston but I was impressed with just how little it weighs. The joy of annoying my backpacking buddies with it would, in itself, make the extra weight worthwhile!:D
