Is this knife and sheath fake? It's being sold out of Japan. 1992 double dash stamp, but the sheath made me suspicious. Not interested in it, just curious.

Looks new to my sore eyes. Noticed that the shop is located in Hiroshima. Nothing looks odd but then the 110 China fakes are numerous if you search the China vendors, which I did to some small extent. However, I did not find that double dash tang stamp. An ambitious fella might search tirelessly the China vendors for a double dash 110 just to be sure that such a fake does exist or does not exist.

The double dash was the common tang stamp for 1992. The single dash was the rare one. The 2nd dash noted an engineering change, blade radius changed a tiny bit.

BTW, I gave the vendor a pull. If they respond with anything interesting I'll report back here. I've never met a Japanese liar. The Japanese that I have known and worked with were terrific, hard-working, wonderful, fun loving, intelligent, clever close traders.

How about the sheath? I don't recall seeing a 110 sheath that is not stitched all the way around.

The far side of the sheath is never photographed straight on and you are right that it does look it is folded over and not stitched on one side in the photos.

I have one sheath, thank you Larry, and try as I might I cannot get it to look like that in the vendor's photos no matter which way I turn it.

I'll go back to the China vendors and look at some sheaths for a fold over one.
No fold overs found in China vendor search.

Not sure when they were made but I have a sheath just like the one shown in the OP's picture. It did not come with a knife when I got it. I don't even think it has ever had a knife in it.

I believe the OP's knife to be authentic.

That's obviously a fake sheath, since I've never seen one before. :D

Thanks gedlicks!

I have several of those sheaths, the knife is real, the sheath is real, fakes don't go to drastic measures of authentic buck stamps on the snaps lol

The double dash 110 is a common stamp. That sheath is a Buck sheath. They used them in the early 90's. I have that sheath with a 531 Buck-lock a mid-lock and a 110 with the 93 date code stamp. The sheath is even in the 1992 catalog along side the Buck-locks 531 & 532. DM

last year I bought a very used 1991 buck 110 to an old guy and he gave me the same sheath with , that sheath is stamped 110 under the belt strap if my memory is good , I'll post pics of it later .
