ebay auction promotion allowed?

No, I don't believe there is.

Most people here check ebay if they are looking for something anyway.

There are, at this moment, 2526 knives for auction on eBay, and that's just eBay. If we let every one of those sellers promote his auction here, it would overwhelm this place. eBay has a very nice search engine. Anyone who is looking to buy a knife on eBay can search them up for himself.
 
Sure, we have a special Ebay auction promotion package - $100 a year and you can promote your auction (note the singular) in the Exchange forums.

That's exactly why. There are 18,000 members and each one is free to reply to your post with whatever he wants to say or add. Someone can reply saying, "That's a great knife, but there's a cheaper on going on bladeauction right now." Another can say, "I had one of those knives and it was horrible. Brand Y is much better."

Interactive is not a characteristic that professional advertisers look for in a medium.
