Ebay Custom Knives

You are trying to lump millions of sellers into one group. How can you expect to get a single answer?

Some will be the actual knifemaker, some will be individuals, some will be resellers, and you will get rip-off artists mixed-in.

Your best bet is to look at their buyer feedback to make sure that they have many transactions and that their feedback is in the high 90th-percentile.

That's the best way, IMHO. I'd check for a good return policy too.

Yup, pretty much what has already been said.

There are some good custom makers that market on e-bay, i have bought a few and I'm pleased with what I got. But, a lot of the "custom" knives are low quality Taiwan and Pakistan products, so beware.

You need to know what you are buying, check feedback, and ask questions.

Few people who buy these knives can tell if the knife they are buying has high-quality steel or is simply a knock off. Sellers can have a high feedback rating simply because their buyers don't know what they are buying. The knife looks good. The service is fast. Good feedback. I know that eBay has kicked off some sellers of fake knives even though their feedback rating was very high. There is not much that cannot be made in China or other places that look real, but are fake.

Seems to me if you are going to pull the trigger on a custom knife a good part of the satisfaction would come from interacting with the knifemaker.

many of the damascus fixed blades are made in india & pakistan,& some of the custom folders are made in the philipines, always ask the seller any questions you might have....

If the maker or seller is on the up and up, they should be knowledgeable, and answering questions should not be a problem.
Be specific with your questions. Any evasive, confusing, or downright BS answers should trip your scamometer.
