So I've been looking for the diamond and ultra fine triangle stones for my sharpmaker for a while and tonight I caught a steal, or at least I think a steal on eBay. I paid 50 bucks for:

Used Sharpmaker
2 more pairs of grey medium
2 more pairs of white fine
1 pair of diamond
1 pair of Red/White Ultra fine
Pelican case, cleaning stuff and instruciton manuals and DVD.

Just the pelican case on here is worth the 50 bucks I spent.

"Used Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker (2 medium grey & 2 fine white stones) with pair of Diamond Stones (silver stones), 2 Pairs of Medium (Grey Stones), 2 pairs of Fine (white stones), pair of Very Fine (white stones w/ red), original DVD (has scratching on it but plays great also available on YouTube), Diamond Sharpening Instructions (red paper) and Original Instruction Manual (showing signs of wear but intact & readable).

The slots for both stone angles at 40 degrees have a lot of wear due to years of sharpening but still work great.

I have it all neatly stored in a "Pelican" 1075 case with foam cutouts on bottom for stones and the system. Storage cut outs in top lid for non slip mat, green scrub pads (for washing stones), 2 cotton rags and Altoid tin for Q-tips and toothpicks for cleaning knives with a dental pick (held in place via a magnet)."

The last two months I have been finding great deals like this and making a lot of money as well.

A good addition to that would be a small vial of BKF, for cleaning the ceramics as they load. It makes the scrubbing pads even MORE effective!

Fantastic deal. I need to update my sharpening rig, I only have the DMT Aligner with XC to XXF, and some strops with mediocre compound.

Could you enlighten me, what is BKF?
What kind scrubbing pads would you recommend?

I'm not Komitadjie, but BKF references Bar Keepers Friend, which is great stuff. It contains oxalic acid, which makes it even more effective than Comet or Ajax for cleaning the ceramic rods.

In between cleaning with BKF, I use a small white non-latex eraser to keep the rods clean---very effective.

BKF is referring to Bar Keepers Friend which is a powdered cleaner similar to Comet. The main ingredient is Oxalic acid.

I just use standard green Scotch Bright scouring pads from the grocery store or generic equivalent. I haven't seen an appreciable difference between any specific brand of scrubbing pads for this use.
