Well, I thought I had a good deal going.
I ran across the following ad on ebay the other day with the following description:
"Emerson Knife - CQC-7B-BTS
BTS- Black Finish Serrations
Condition: Unused, new
The CQC-7B is by far the most sought after folding knife of all time. It is the razor sharp chisel ground knife that has become the standard by which all hard-use folding knives are now judged. This is the knife that revolutionized the entire cutlery industry. Every knife company has their version of this knife but they fall far short when compared to the "real deal." Now the knife is available from the Originator, Emerson Knives.
Handles Black G-10 epoxy / glass laminate
Lock Aerospace grade Titanium
Blade 154 CM
Finish Black or Satin Finish
Grind 'B' Blade - Chisel Ground Tanto Style
Overall Length 8.0 in.
Blade Length 3.3 in.
Handle Length 4.65 in.
Blade Thickness .125 in.
Hardness 57-59 RC
Weight 3.8 oz."
The auction had 30 minutes left and a bid of $75. Needless to say, I won the auction and paid my money ($90.50 shipped). I received the knife today and, to my shock/ surprise, it was an EMERSON CQC-7A with the SPEAR POINT BLADE.
So, what are your opinions? I don't know which of the two models most blade afficionados prefer and why? This one does not have a chisel grind and is certainly a more traditional looking knife, but I thought the chisel grind tanto would be very interesting for EDC.
What are your thoughts? Should I send it back, or is the CQC-7A a keeper?
Thanks in advance,
