There are so many bad descriptions on ebay and people want to argue when you send an email asking about it. Problem is finding proof to show them and getting them to change their descriptions, but some never do.

I have fallen off the wagon and picked up a few knives and asked a lot of questions the last few days. It's driving me nutso.

Latest response says a HI-LO model 179 is 440C. Well, we all know thats one of the china frame lockers and unless china is using 440c. We know it really is 420HC.

I did get refunded a few bucks from one ebay purchase that was so poorly described I threatened to ruin his 100% feedback record. And in the emails I got an impression he well knew his descriptions were wrong.

I gotta quit looking at ebay... sorry for the rant

Pack Rat, I hate it when they lie on the bay too... If they don't know just say so... Hell, I don't even know... But I'm learning... Everything on the bay is Old and Rare........ ....... Glad you got some $$$ back...

EBay errors are one reason why I keep giving you guys all the detailed information I have on the knives I know about. I don't want to waste your time with trivia but sooner or later we all peel the onion to the point where all that detail becomes important. I don't usually correct a seller on a given knife because I usually know what I'm looking at if I get a good picture(s), however, not too long ago a guy was selling a special project 110 I hadn't seen before and needed to know the date code on the blade. He claimed there wasn't one on a 110 with three inlay rivets which of course there would be. We exchanged messages several times. Finally he delisted the item because I had proven that almost everything he said about the knife was wrong. Unfortunately, I still don't know what the knife was. Too bad because I would have liked to add the item to my special projects list.

I appreciate the data you feed back to us Richard, as well as from all the other guys.

I would have directed this guy to the Buck website, but the 179 and 174 isn't there anymore. I hate to see those go away. I should have dug through the pile of catalogs for detail.... Didn't take the time like I should have.

Yeah Early,,, I asked one guy what made his chickentrax tang stamp "vintage".
At least he changed the listing.

I also have seen this among parasite practitioners. Politely, exposing snake oil dealers is considered still in vogue. DM

my latest pet miss labeling peeve is the iron wood 111's
