Ebay problem

I've been trying for several days to sign-in to my account on Ebay in order to list some things I no longer need for sale.

Every time I try, their web page says my phone number is invalid. It won't even let me set up a new account with a different name and phone number. No matter what I enter, it says the phone number is invalid.

Their customer service has been no help so far.

Have any of you ever had this happen???

How's that for off topic?

My problems with Ebay usually stem from the fact that I can sign in... and buy stuff :)

Sorry that you're going through this though, perhaps it's time to clear a cache and see if that helps?

I done went and did that. Didn't help a bit.

The most curious thing is that I have a Mac, and also a Dell with XP. Both computers do the same thing, so it's a problem with the Ebay server or their software.

I can't even sign in to register as a new user with a different name and telephone number.

Their web page always responds "invalid telephone number".

They probably have many active servers, so I thought maybe the server serves a certain region and that by posting here someone else might have had the same problem.
 
Try it at the library. If it happens again, you know for sure it is your eBay account. Have you gotten any emails that state you have to change something in your account or it will be closed? If you did, and clicked on the link, you were a victim of what is called phishing. Google it, I would take over the thread if I tried to explain it. If you can get into it at the library, I would delete all the cookies at home and get rid of your current eBay links, and notify eBay immediately.

If you can't get in at the library, I would view this as a blessing. Buying was a hassle, selling was an absolute nightmare! There is a phone number in their help forum, I didn't write it down, so I don't have it, but you can either email them about your problem, or call them about it. It may take a long time to get a response, but you'll have at least gotten the ball rolling. Good luck.
 
No, I haven't received an email like you describe.

I've tried the help chat session, but their people don't know about anything not in their script, same as the email people. There seems no way to talk to someone in person. I've insisted on having someone call me to no avail.

I'll see if I can find the phone number.

I'm going to try it at the church when I get a chance, over the weekend.

When you ask Ebay for your password, they send you a link by email. The email from them never arrives, so somebody else is using my ID and email address. Whoever that is gets the message from Ebay. Their people can't seem to grasp that idea. :rolleyes:
 
Silent hunter, north of Baltimore, south of York, I spent 3 years with the Newnited States Army at Aberdeen and havre De Grace, Md. before you were born. East Baltimore Street was a great place in the evenings. :eek:
 
It took me forever to get an Ebay ID because all my thousand email addresses automatically filter their auto-response. So, your account may be okay and you're blocking their email without knowing it. Ebay is annoying!

The infamous Block... I can tell you some stories in, oh, about 7 years :D .
 
I don't know how the block is now, but back in the 50's it was a great place to have a fun time. And a good dinner. 'Course, some crab cakes nearly killed me one night.

I used to take my wife there. Never a problem, the cops kept it clean. ;)
 
Try clearing your cache and deleting the cookie ebay leaves on your system. There are probably several ebay cookies. Do a file search for 'ebay' and delete all the real small files.

I'm using a Mac, and it works differently. I have deleted all cookies and passwords, but still can't connect to Ebay.

I'm beginning to think maybe I DO have an invalid phone nuumber.

Going to call the phone co. rat now!!
