I bought a SQ586T from an ebay seller.

I got this message from him today:

Hi, Thank you for the purchase. I am sorry I did not get back to you sooner. I have been on vacation. I received the SQ586 from my supplier but it is not made in the USA. I checked with them and they informed me that they have no more USA in SQ586. Please let me know if you want the china knife or if you want a full refund. I am very sorry about this. Steve

This was my reply:
Steve,
I do NOT want a china made knife. I only collect the USA made Schrades. I got 1 chinese knife by mistake and it was terrible. The fit & finish was very poor and there was grit in the joint of the knife. The grind was poor also. In short is was a piece of junk not worth what I paid in postage. As you can tell I was not impressed. :-)
Please refund the money to my paypal account.
I will look for an American made one.
Thank you,
Dale

The seller has a 99.9% positive feedback. I have bought from him before with no problems. I do appreciate that he notified me that the knife wasn't USA made. I am a bit put off that he was selling something that he didn't have in stock.
I guess, no harm, no foul. :grumpy:

Thanks for letting me vent. The second messed up ebay sale in 2 days. :( :grumpy:

Dale,
I agree,that's a bummer.
I suspect there are other eBay sellers that are listing items that they don't have in their possession.
There appear to be a lot of sellers who are trying to make a living from eBay sales and others who use it as a secondary source of income.
The seller lost a couple bucks on that listing in listing and final value fees.
I'd check and make sure that he re-imbursed you as a refund, otherwise Paypal will take a commission.

One dealer has BK9s, but not in stock. He says they are special order. From where? I guess he is waiting for a buyer, then will buy from another ebayer as he is selling for $72 and other dealers are selling for 55 to 60.

Well, I had a good experience with this seller after all. I received an email apology. and I checked my PayPal account and he had already reimbursed me. Then he sent me an email telling me that he would reimburse me. It all took place in the space of about 20 minutes from the time I sent him the email saying I did not want the Chinese knife.
He made a mistake, but he sure fixed it in a hurry. It helped to restore my faith in ebay sellers, at least to a certain degree.

Now we will see how I come out on the 10OT deal. That seller said he sent me the right knife today, & that he would repay me for the shipping of the two wrong knives. He had charged $12 for shipping on the original auction for UPS shipping, then sent it through the Post Office for less than $5. :grumpy: I think I will charge him $12 to ship the two knives back to him. :D :D :D
