Ebay sebbie: With official holes?

A quick call to CRK will verify its authenticity.

I saw that too, a few days ago. I didnt know chris reeve would ever drill holes like that? Maybe they used to have a custom shop?

I kinda doubt Chris would do something like that. If I get a chance I'll call today.

I just called CRK, Stephanie says no way they did that. I'll drop a line to the seller.

Doesn't it also look like they combined a Classic front with a standard back? I drilled the holes in mine but at least I would admit it if I was selling it.

:D

My immediate reaction when I saw the picture was "no". I don't remember it being done, it does not have the look of Chris' work and he has stayed away from doing this kind of thing. Still, I checked with him and his comment is that it might have been done in our shop but he is pretty sure that he did not do it himself. Bryan, who has been with us 8 years does not remember the knife at all. His suggestion was that it might have been done by here 6 or 7 years ago but none of us have that good a memory.

I don't want to put a wrench in the post of the guy on e-bay - he might be correct or half-correct - we don't think so but can't remember conclusively.

The front isn't a classic face - it is hard to tell whether it is just the photo or the scollops have been smoothed out. We would certainly not have changed the profile here.

Hope this help - I really wish we had kept better records over the years!

Take care all!
Anne

I sent email to Matt (Pontiaker), here's one Matt did for me, but like a dope I sold it later. Did I say I was a dope? :grumpy:

Seller never emailed me back on this.

Oh Well, the knife will probably make someone happy.

I forum member named Pontiaker use to do sebbie mods, soften the lines, bigger thumb cutouts, etc. He is now making his own knives. I was speculating that he might have done the knife in question. I emailed him. No response either.

I've been at Blade dammit! Ha ha....This was my first Meltdown knife, I did it to one of my own before I started doing a couple for friends on the forums.I did the Meltdown and carried it for awhile.Down the road I put the "Bali" style holes in the front handle slab, then removed the scallops and carried it some more. Finally I then sold it on the forums. It was a great knife with lots of pocket time, kind of got me started making my own custom folders. Here's one of my pics of it from a couple years ago, before I lost the scallops.Just got back from Blade this morning right before noon after a night in Denver!

Thanks for the followup Matt.

In the ebay picture it sure looked like it had a your meltdown on it. I'm sure the knife worked out fine for whoever bought it. The reason I brought it up here is the claim the holes where factory.

Gotcha Dave, thanks. Either the seller is not being truthful or whoever he got the knife from was not.Iam sure whoever ended up with it we'll be happy, its a great knife!
Matt

Hey Pontiaker,
I know you are extremely busy now with the production of your own knives, but I was wondering if you had any time for custom work on my small regular sebenza? I'd really appreciate this as I'm a huge fan of your custom modifications. If you can, email me at musicboywonder@yahoo.com. Thanks for your time and consideration.
