Looking to get one of the above. Been researching both, still can't decide. Will be hunting, camping, general outdoors stuff. Also nice to bring to work as I can always use a spare set of scrubs, carry my nursing stuff, change of clothes, etc. While it may be used for a BOB, right now I'm looking for more practical matters. Hunting, since you may ask, will be with trad bows. Arrggh I'm at a loss.

If you've got the money then the Halftrack. If not then look at the Spec-Ops T.H.E. pack, it's tough to beat for $100 (from the spec ops site).

Own a rush and an Eblerstock but not the Halftrack. No comparison for your purpose. The ability to secure your rifle or bow to use your hands for climbing a steep ravine is worth the price of an American made piece of genius gear. The built in rain coat keeps gear dry. If it doubles as a BOB then you can secure a long gun in cognito. The Rush is a good made over seas pack. A great pack just not for hard core rugged hunting. The rush is not in the same category as the Halftrack.

The Halftrack is a tremendous design, and has many fans in both the law enforcement, military, and recreational user communities. If you want a "do all" pack that can be used for airline travel, camping, "bug out", hunting, etc., etc., then the Halftrack is the way to go. Nothing against the 5.11 Rush 72 pack, but it really isn't in the same league as the Halftrack. It used more of an "assault style" design, which is great for troops who need to carry a day's worth of gear, or a civilian embarking on a day on the trails, or in a urban environment where you prefer a pack over a briefcase. After that, the Halftrack wins out...
